Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has reportedly been spotted having a meeting with Chicago Fire manager Veljko Paunovic, sparking rumours that a switch to MLS is on the cards.

The German World Cup winner was forced out of the United first team by manager Jose Mourinho at the start of the season.

Schweinsteiger spent two months training with the academy players, and even though he was welcomed back into the first team last month, the 32-year-old does not appear to have a future at Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the former Bayern Munich star was photographed meeting Paunovic at Piccolino in Hale, where the pair had a four-hour lunch.

In August, Schweinsteiger ruled out playing for another European club, which strengthens the rumours that he could move to the United States in January.
