Paul Pogba 'unlikely to leave Manchester United in January'

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is unlikely to leave the club in January but a summer departure could be on the cards, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Wantaway Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is set to stay at Old Trafford until the end of the season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The World Cup-winning Frenchman is being linked with moves to Juventus and Real Madrid after agent Mino Raiola claimed that his days in Manchester are numbered.

However, given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, teams would struggle to finance big-money moves for players of Pogba's calibre midway through the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News regarding Pogba's future, Romano said: "I think Paul Pogba is staying. From talking to people around the player and around his agent, Mino Raiola, the feeling is that it's really difficult for a transfer to happen in January.

"It's really complicated for Juventus to spend €100m (£90.4m) on a player and it's the same for Real Madrid, who are not signing any player in January. I don't expect Paris Saint-Germain to bid for Pogba right now.

"Pogba is respecting Manchester United and also the manager. He's staying until the summer and then we'll have Paul Pogba on the market."

The 27-year-old - who has scored two goals and set up three more across all competitions this season - still has 18 months left to run on his current deal with the Red Devils.
