Nottingham Forest will reportedly look to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a permanent deal this summer.

After being restricted to just three competitive appearances for Man United in the 2021-22 campaign, Henderson joined Forest on a season-long loan deal in August to gain regular playing time.

Henderson kept six clean sheets in 20 games across all competitions before picking up an injury in January.

The 26-year-old was closing in on a return to fitness until he suffered a setback in his recovery, ensuring that his season was cut short.

Keylor Navas has featured between the posts in Henderson's absence after joining the East Midlands club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Navas, who has kept two clean sheets in 17 games for Forest, is set to return to the French giants when his loan deal expires.

With Forest in need of a new number one, The Telegraph are reporting that they will attempt to bring Henderson back on a permanent basis.

Henderson is believed to be keen to rejoin the Tricky Trees, but his future at Man United will be determined by their goalkeeping situation.

Tom Heaton and Crystal Palace loanee Jack Butland are set to leave the club this summer, while David de Gea is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Man United are likely to agree a new deal with the Spaniard, and they are also expected to bring in a new goalkeeper, which could pave the way for Henderson's departure.

Like Henderson, Renan Lodi has been on loan at Forest this term, and as it stands, he will return to his parent club Atletico Madrid.

Forest are considering signing Lodi on a permanent basis, but they will attempt to lower the £25m fee that was included as an option in his loan deal.

There may also be several departures this summer, including Jesse Lingard, who will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Forest secured their safety with a 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday, ensuring that they head into Sunday's final game of the season against Crystal Palace with no pressure on their shoulders.
