Manchester United are reportedly optimistic that they will be able to keep hold of Paul Pogba beyond the end of the season, despite interest from Real Madrid.

Manchester United are reportedly increasingly optimistic about their chances of keeping Paul Pogba beyond the end of the season.

Pogba's future has once again been the subject of intense speculation throughout a campaign which has seen him limited to just eight appearances in all competitions due to injury.

Real Madrid have held a long-standing interest in the 27-year-old, while Juventus are keen to bring him back to Turin and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

However, ESPN reports that United are doubtful whether any of Europe's elite could afford Pogba, who is valued at around £100m by the Red Devils.

The World Cup winner would also likely demand wages of at least £300,000 per week, which could pose an additional problem as clubs look to deal with the financial implications of the coronavirus lockdown.

Pogba's contract at Old Trafford is currently due to expire next summer, although United do have the option to extend that by a further 12 months.
