Manchester United could reportedly have to fend off competition from Al-Nassr in order to sign Inter Milan number one Andre Onana this summer.

The ex-Cameroon international is believed to be one of the Red Devils' top targets to succeed David de Gea, who is officially a free agent after his contract expired.

Man United remain in discussions with De Gea over a new deal, but the two parties are yet to strike an agreement, as the Red Devils are demanding the Spaniard to accept a significant pay cut.

Should talks fail to yield a positive outcome, Erik ten Hag will sanction a move for a new goalkeeper, and Champions League finalist Onana is said to be high up his shortlist.

The Red Devils are reported to have failed with one offer for the 27-year-old, whose contract with the Nerazzurri does not expire for another four years, and he was also believed to be on Chelsea's radar before the Blues decided against a deal.

Man United's opening bid reportedly came in at €45m (£38.5m) including add-ons, but Inter are holding out for a package totalling €60m (£51.4m), which may prove too steep for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag's side seemingly had a clear run at Onana after Chelsea withdrew their interest, but according to CBS Sports, Al-Nassr have now joined the race for the former Ajax man.

Onana has apparently been offered a "lucrative" deal to join the Saudi giants, whose current number one David Ospina is expected to miss most of the upcoming season due to injury.

It is unclear if Onana has any interest in leaving Europe at this point in his career, but Man United are now coming under increasing pressure to strike a deal with Inter.

Onana made a name for himself under Ten Hag at Ajax, having left Barcelona's academy in 2015 to enjoy a successful seven-and-a-half year spell in Amsterdam.

The shot-stopper's career was halted by a lengthy doping ban in 2021, but he has returned to his best form since joining the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last summer.

Onana kept 19 clean sheets in 41 matches for Simone Inzaghi's side during his debut campaign, including an impressive eight shut-outs in 13 Champions League matches.

With the Cameroonian in between the sticks, Inter kept five clean sheets in six knockout games prior to the final in Istanbul, where they suffered heartbreak in a 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

Should the Red Devils' pursuit of Onana end in failure, Eintracht Frankfurt number one Kevin Trapp has supposedly been identified as a cut-price alternative.

Porto's Diogo Costa has also caught the eye of Ten Hag, but the Portugal international's price tag - thought to be in the region of £70m - could put the Red Devils off. body check tags ::
