Manchester United have eyed up a free transfer move for Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire, according to a report.

The 28-year-old's future remains in the air with his current deal at Stamford Bridge expiring in the summer, with a host of European clubs being linked with his signature.

Foreign sides are currently able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the German already, with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain already being heavily linked, whilst English sides must wait until the summer to make a move.

However, the Mirror are reporting that United have not been dissuaded from a move for Rudiger, who has featured in 24 of Chelsea's 25 Premier League matches so far this season.

Rudiger has reiterated his desire to focus on Chelsea's pursuit of silverware this season, leaving a decision on his contract until the end of the campaign, having rejected the Blues' current offers on the table.

The report continues with United boss Ralf Rangnick's admiration for Rudiger, and how interest in the defender could cast doubt over the future of captain Maguire, with the Red Devils ranking only ninth in goals conceded in the Premier League this campaign. body check tags ::
