Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman is currently being linked with a move away from the Italian giants, with Juventus reportedly keen on cutting De Ligt's salary from €12m (£10.2m) to €7.5m (£6.3m) per year.

With the 22-year-old unwilling to take a pay cut, a number of Premier League clubs have begun to show an interest in the centre-back.

Manchester United and Liverpool are looking at De Ligt, while Chelsea have allegedly added the Netherlands international to a list of potential defensive targets.

Those three Premier League clubs could face further competition for De Ligt, with The Mirror reporting that Manchester City have joined the race for the Juventus player.

The report states that Pep Guardiola is keen on signing the former Ajax defender, who has two years left to run on his current deal with Juventus.

Since arriving from the Netherlands in 2019, De Ligt has made 117 appearances for the Turin side, chipping in with eight goals. body check tags ::
