Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur 'signal interest in Matthew Hoppe'

Schalke 04 forward Matthew Hoppe is a rumoured £9m target for Premier League pair Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Sports Mole

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made it clear to Schalke 04 that they are interested in signing American forward Matthew Hoppe.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Schalke, who are on the verge of being relegated from the Bundesliga.

Hoppe made his breakthrough in November and has gone on to score five goals in 15 German top-flight outings, three of those strikes coming against Hoffenheim.

Schalke will not stand in the USA international's way if a bid is made this summer and, according to Transfermarkt, Liverpool and Spurs will both test the Royal Blues' resolve.

It is thought that an offer of £9m will be enough to prise Hoppe, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City, away from Schalke.
