Leeds United are reportedly set to make England midfielder Kalvin Phillips the club's highest earner, in order to fend off interest from Manchester United.

After impressing in the Yorkshire club's return to the Premier League last season, and following that with starts in all of England's run to the European Championship final in the summer, interest in the academy graduate has been building.

However, according to The Mirror, Leeds are ready to double Phillips's wages, which will see him take home around £100,000 per week, and become the highest earner at the club, as a reward for his performances.

The 25-year-old's current deal was signed in 2019 and does not expire until the summer of 2024, but Leeds are keen to tie down the future of the England man.

The report states that a deal is edging closer to agreement, with the player's agent indicating that the midfielder's desire is to stay with the Whites.

Phillips has made eight appearances so far this season and helped his side to their first win in the league this campaign on Saturday, as they won 1-0 against Watford at Elland Road.
