Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has hinted that he is preparing to remain in the Premier League amid interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old recently became England's all-time record goalscorer after netting his 54th international goal in the 2-1 win over Italy in Thursday's opening Euro 2024 qualifier.

Kane, who is also Tottenham's all-time record goalscorer, increased his Three Lions goal tally to 55 on Sunday with a strike in the 2-0 victory against Ukraine at Wembley.

The England skipper is now set to return to managerless Spurs – who have seen Antonio Conte leave the club by mutual consent – where speculation continues to swirl regarding his long-term future.

Kane is at risk of leaving the North Londoners on a free transfer at the end of next season, with talks over a contract extension yet to reach an advanced stage.

Since failing to secure a move to Manchester City last summer, Kane has been strongly linked with a big-money switch to Manchester United, who are on the hunt for a new centre-forward ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Man United boss Erik ten Hag has identified Kane as his primary striker target this summer, although the Red Devils may be forced to spend at least £100m to lure him away from North London.

A potential switch to perennial Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich has also been mooted, and a recent report claims that their chances of signing the striker have been boosted following the appointment of Thomas Tuchel.

The prospect of remaining at Tottenham is still an option for Kane, though, and the return of former head coach Mauricio Pochettino could allegedly persuade Spurs' No.10 to commit his future to the club.

Kane is expected to assess his options at the end of the season, and while a move abroad may be tempting in his quest to win trophies, the Englishman is seemingly more likely to continue his club career on home soil.

Shortly after becoming England's record goalscorer, Kane was congratulated for his achievement by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and the striker appeared to drop a fresh hint to suggest that he is planning to stay put in the Premier League.

Asked by Sunak if he has the desire to overtake Alan Shearer as the Premier League's all-time record goalscorer, Kane confidently replied, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: "Yeah it's definitely there.

"I'm getting closer, so it's for sure something I want to achieve, but I try not to look too far ahead in football. A lot can change in a short period of time, but I'm feeling fit – I'm 29 – so hopefully got plenty of years left. For sure, it'd be something I'd love to do."

Kane is currently third in the Premier League's all-time scoring charts with 204 goals – including 21 in 28 games this season – and he is just four behind Wayne Rooney in second place, while Shearer is placed clear at the summit with 260 goals.

Kane has scored at least 17 Premier League goals in each of the last nine seasons and maintaining this rate would see him surpass Shearer's record within the next three years.
