The father of Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland has reportedly visited Manchester United's training ground amid suggestions that the Red Devils are closing in on a swoop for the teenager.

The 19-year-old has scored 26 times in 18 appearances for Salzburg this season, including seven strikes in four Champions League outings during a fine start to the campaign.

United are thought to be keen on a January deal for the Norway international and would be prepared to loan him back to Salzburg for the rest of the season in order to steal a march on their rivals.

According to The Athletic, Haaland's father, Alf-Inge Haaland, has recently been spotted at United's Carrington training complex, fuelling suggestions that a move is imminent.

Alf-Inge turned out for two of United's biggest rivals during his playing career, representing Leeds United between 1997 and 2000 before featuring for Manchester City between 2000 and 2003.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are also all thought to be interested in signing the Norwegian, who played under now Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde.
