Manchester United are reportedly likely to keep hold of Fred this summer, despite the expected arrival of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Manchester United reportedly have little intention of allowing Fred to depart the club this summer.

With Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek expected to complete a switch to Old Trafford in the coming weeks, question marks have emerged over the futures of several players in the middle of the park.

Despite an improved campaign, Fred is on that list, with the 27-year-old only likely to be used on a rotational basis by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Nevertheless, the Manchester Evening News claims that Fred is happy to fight for his place at the Premier League giants.

The report adds that Solskjaer is also against parting ways with the player, who should prove to be an effective option when the Norwegian wishes to use a less adventurous XI.

Fred made 37 starts and nine substitute outings in all competitions during 2019-20.
