Bori Fati - the father of Ansu Fati - has insisted that the winger will not be leaving Barcelona this summer.

While Fati has long been tipped to be the heir to the throne of Lionel Messi, the attacker has struggled to maintain the momentum generated during the early stages of his career.

As well as injuries playing their part, Fati has become regarded as no more than a squad member under Xavi, with 20 of his 31 outings in La Liga this campaign coming from the substitutes' bench.

The most recent of those appearances came on Tuesday as Barcelona edged past Osasuna on the same day where speculation intensified regarding Fati's future.

Reports emerged that Barcelona had definitively placed the 20-year-old on the transfer list as they bid to significantly boost their position with FFP during the summer.

Agent Jorge Mendes is also said to have informed club officials that he will be able to attract a substantial offer from a Premier League club to fulfil that desire.

Newcastle United, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all been credited with an interest in the Spain international.

However, Bori Fati told local media on Tuesday night that his son would continue to ply his trade for the Catalan giants in 2023-24.

He told reporters: "Ansu will stay at Barcelona. That's for sure. He stays, it's guaranteed.

Bori Fati allegedly held discussions with Mendes before choosing to speak to the media, an indication that talks took place on the back of the aforementioned reports.

Xavi suggested last month that he continued to have faith in Fati and that he remains an important part of his first-team group.

In total, Fati has chipped in with 26 goals and nine assists during his 104 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions.

There is also a €1bn (£880m) release clause present in his contract, his deal not due to expire until the end of 2026-27.
