Barcelona are reportedly waiting for Matthijs de Ligt's move to Juventus to collapse before pouncing for the Ajax centre-back.

The Catalan giants were previously said to have given up all hope of signing the Netherlands international as he looked certain to join Juve.

Talks between the Italian and Dutch champions have reached a deadlock, however, and ESPN claims that Barca are ready to hijack the deal.

Barca are apparently prepared to offer the full amount Ajax are after, which is not the case for Juventus, despite also currently working on deals for Antoine Griezmann and Neymar.

Speaking on Friday ahead of Frenkie de Jong's Camp Nou unveiling, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu claimed that he knows exactly where De Ligt will end up next season.

Manchester United are the other team believed to be in the hunt to sign the 19-year-old, having also allegedly agreed to hand over £75m to Ajax.
