Barcelona have reportedly been forced to put contract talks with Ansu Fati on hold, as the attacker's agent Jorge Mendes is unhappy with the current proposal on the table.

The Catalan giants are working to sign the 18-year-old to a new contract, with his current deal at Camp Nou due to expire next year, although the club do have the option of activating an extension.

Barcelona were thought to be close to reaching an agreement with the Spain international over a deal which would include a release clause of €1bn (£840m).

However, according to El Nacional, negotiations have stalled, as Mendes, who represents Fati, is not prepared to agree on the buy-out figure that Barcelona want, while there are also issues with the length of the deal, with the agent wanting a two-year extension.

The report claims that Mendes wants to sit down again with the Catalan outfit before 2024 to discuss a more lucrative contract, when Barcelona's financial situation will have improved.

Manchester United are believed to be interested in the attacker, who has scored 14 times and registered five assists in 46 appearances for Ronald Koeman's side in all competitions. body check tags ::
