The agent of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has insisted that his client has never wanted to leave the club.

Bale has been linked with an exit from the Bernabeu on numerous occasions since joining in 2013 amid suggestions that Madrid had reportedly grown frustrated with his injury record.

Manchester United are understood to have held a long-standing interest in the Wales international, but agent Jonathan Barnett has hit out at the repeated speculation that Bale could leave the Spanish capital.

"Gareth never wanted to leave Real Madrid," Barnett told fansite Madridista Real.

"Bale has always felt an important part of this team... Bale is very happy at Real Madrid and Real Madrid is very happy with Bale. The truth is we are already tired of these stupid lie stories."

Bale has scored 99 goals in 214 appearances for Madrid, helping the club to 13 trophies including four Champions League titles.
