Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have already lost Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, while Cristiano Ronaldo is allegedly attempting to leave Old Trafford in the current market.

Mason Greenwood is also still suspended by the club, leaving new head coach Erik ten Hag short of options in the final third of the field ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

According to French outlet Media Foot, Man United are admirers of Ben Yedder and could attempt to bring him to Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

With that in mind, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the 31-year-old, who has found the back of the net on a regular basis during his professional career.

Ben Yedder started his professional career with Toulouse in 2010, scoring 14 times in 20 appearances for the French outfit's B side before securing a spot in the first team.

After two seasons working his way into the side, the striker became a regular during the 2012-13 campaign, and he had four excellent seasons for the club before securing a move to Sevilla in 2016.

Ben Yedder scored 71 goals and registered 22 assists in 174 appearances for Toulouse in all competitions, while he managed 70 goals and 22 assists in his 138 outings for Sevilla between 2016 and 2019.

The 31-year-old netted 38 La Liga goals during his three seasons in Seville, while he was also impressive in Europe for the Spanish side, scoring 22 times in 29 outings.

Ben Yedder joined Monaco in August 2019, with the Ligue 1 outfit activating the €40m (£34.2m) release clause in his contract, which proved to be a record sale by Sevilla.

The centre-forward netted 19 goals in 31 appearances during his first season with the principality side, while he then hit 22 in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.

Ben Yedder enjoyed the best scoring season of his professional career in 2021-22, finding the back of the net on 32 occasions in 52 appearances, in addition to registering seven assists.

Since arriving at Monaco, the Frenchman has scored 73 goals and registered 25 assists in 124 outings, while his overall professional record is 214 goals and 69 assists in 436 appearances.

Ben Yedder has also been capped on 19 occasions by France, but he has only found the back of the net on three occasions, including against South Africa in a friendly in March of this year.

Despite being a consistent goalscorer over the last 10 seasons or so, Ben Yedder has not won any silverware at club level, only lifting the UEFA Nations League with France.

Monaco would allegedly resist a sale this summer, but there have been claims that offers in the region of £40m would be considered, which could prove to be a smart investment considering his rate of goals.

Ben Yedder is unproven in the Premier League, but Man United would be seriously short of goals heading into next season if Ronaldo were to depart, and there are not too many other strikers in world football of the required standard available for purchase in the current window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been credited with an interest in the striker, but the 20-time English champions would fancy their chances of winning any possible race for his signature. body check tags ::
