Manchester United will have to cope without Scott McTominay for Saturday's Premier League clash with Watford at Old Trafford.

The Scotland international contracted an illness before the Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid, and Ralf Rangnick has conceded that he will not recover in time for the weekend.

Otherwise, Rangnick's only injury concern remains Edinson Cavani, with the Uruguayan still struggling with a groin problem as Cristiano Ronaldo prepares for another start up top.

Victor Lindelof surprisingly started at right-back against Atletico but should make way for Diogo Dalot here, while Alex Telles could provide fresh legs on the opposite side ahead of Luke Shaw.

Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane should hold their spots in the rearguard, as Fred and Paul Pogba form the midfield pairing amid McTominay's illness, but Nemanja Matic is another option.

After netting for the second game in a row at the Wanda Metropolitano, Anthony Elanga is a serious contender to replace Marcus Rashford, with Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho keeping their places in support of Ronaldo.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles; Fred, Pogba; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo
