Antonio Conte to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United?

Manchester United are tempted to bring in Antonio Conte and ex-Juventus transfer chief Beppe Marotta as part of a double swoop, according to a report.

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is in the running to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, according to a report.

The Red Devils are rumoured to be weighing up whether to part company with their under-fire boss during the upcoming international break, having made their worst start to a season since 1989.

Mourinho potentially has two games to save his job, with Valencia and Newcastle United next up at Old Trafford in the Champions League and Premier League respectively.

Should United chiefs swing the axe, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims that Conte - sacked by Chelsea in the summer - will be considered for the top job at Old Trafford.

The report indicates that the English giants are eyeing a double swoop, as transfer guru Beppe Marotta is also on their radar following his exit from Juventus.

Marotta played a major part in Juve's resurgence over the past decade and has previously worked with Conte at the Allianz Stadium, which could tempt United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to make a move, although AC Milan are also said to be interested in both men.
