Premier League Team of the Week - Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Dele Alli

By , Assistant Editor | 5d
Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for gameweek 13, including three players apiece from Manchester City and Huddersfield Town.

Chelsea fell to a convincing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur this weekend as the unbeaten trio at the top of the Premier League table became a duo.

Manchester City and Liverpool are now the only teams yet to taste defeat after 13 games of the season, with both recording comfortable away wins this weekend against West Ham United and Watford respectively.

Arsenal are now just a point off the top four following their victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, while Manchester United dropped more points at home to Crystal Palace leaving them closer to bottom of the table than top.

There were some big results at the bottom of the table as Fulham picked up a much-needed victory in Claudio Ranieri's first game at the helm, while Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United also claimed maximum points.

Everton beat struggling Cardiff City, though, and Brighton & Hove Albion could not find a way past Leicester City despite the Foxes being reduced to 10 men.

Here, Sports Mole selects it Premier League team of the week for gameweek 13.

Crystal Palace gave as good as they got at Old Trafford, but they still needed five saves from goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to keep Manchester United at bay and that is enough to earn him a place in this team ahead of Jordan Pickford.

Trent Alexander-Arnold produced one of the goals of the weekend with a stunning free kick against Watford, and while Fabian Delph did not grab as many headlines on the opposite side of the pitch he was instrumental in Man City's comfortable win over West Ham, once again ably filling in for the injured Benjamin Mendy and beating Maxime Le Marchand, Andrew Robertson and Sead Kolasinac to a place at left-back.

Newcastle's goalscorer Ciaran Clark takes up a centre-back berth having also helped his side hold off a potential Burnley comeback, while Christopher Schindler is the first of no fewer than three Huddersfield players in this team.

The other two both come in midfield, with Philip Billing and Aaron Mooy both impressing during the 2-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mooy scored both of his side's goals in that match, while Billing ran the midfield and made a goalline clearance to boot.

The likes of David Silva, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Andre Gomes, Christian Eriksen and two-goal Stuart Armstrong all deserve honourable mentions for the final spot in midfield, but it goes to Dele Alli instead. The England international scored one, created another and nullified the influence of Jorginho in the win over Chelsea.

Alli's teammate Son Heung-min is unfortunate to miss out too, if only for his stunning solo effort, but the number of chances he missed against Chelsea opens the door for Raheem Sterling to make the team for the fourth time this season, alongside clubmate Leroy Sane.

City ran riot once again at the London Stadium with Sterling adding a goal and an assist to his fast-growing tallies, while Sane was arguably the standout player of the whole weekend with an assist and two goals. An honourable mention also goes to Ryan Sessegnon, who registered two assists against Southampton.

There is one Fulham representative in the team, though, with Aleksandar Mitrovic returning to form with a bang. Mitrovic scored twice to fire Fulham to a timely victory, holding off competition from Harry Kane to lead the line.
