Cristiano Ronaldo was back training with Manchester United on Wednesday after being granted compassionate leave ahead of Tuesday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The 37-year-old and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced on Monday that their newborn son had tragically passed away.

Ronaldo was not involved in Man United's 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Tuesday, with the Red Devils saying in a statement that the Portuguese was "supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time".

The forward was pictured at his side's training complex on Wednesday morning, and according to the Manchester Evening News, he completed the full session.

As a result, it is likely that the former Sporting Lisbon youngster will be involved in Man United's next Premier League match away to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool and Man United fans joined together for a minute's applause in the seventh minute of Tuesday's contest at Anfield as a show of support to Ronaldo and his family.

Ronaldo's involvement in Saturday's game with the Gunners is unlikely to become clear until the club's interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has his press conference on Friday afternoon. body check tags ::
