Manchester United "had a good normal week of training" despite the Mason Greenwood situation, according to interim head coach Ralf Rangnick.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has insisted that the club "had a good normal week of training" despite the Mason Greenwood situation.

Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, threats to kill and assault of his girlfriend following posts, including images and a voice note, on social media, but he has since been released on bail.

The England international has been suspended by the club and will not train or feature in matches while investigations take place.

Rangnick has admitted that the delicate situation has been "a topic within the team", but the German has said that the squad have been able to train normally ahead of Friday's FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough.

"In fact, we had a good normal week of training with five training sessions including todays training, obviously it was a topic within the team but they're human beings and Mason was part of the group before we had our break," Rangnick told reporters.

"It was a good week of training, we could train under normal circumstances and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow."

Man United will follow Friday's clash with Middlesbrough with a trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the Premier League on February 8. body check tags ::
