New Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has revealed that he had a 90-minute phone conversation with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend.

Solskjaer was relieved of his duties as head coach last month, with Michael Carrick placed in caretaker charge of the Red Devils.

Rangnick has since agreed to become the club's interim manager for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign, and the German will lead the team for the first time against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 63-year-old has said that he spoke with Solskjaer on the phone for one-and-a-half hours, with the Norwegian giving his view on the team that he managed between December 2018 and November 2021.

"I also spoke with Ole last Sunday before the Chelsea game for almost two hours. He was very generous to spend one-and-a-half hours on the phone with me, telling me his insight and details about the team," Rangnick told reporters.

Rangnick also revealed during Friday's press conference that he would be open to remaining as head coach of the English giants beyond the end of the 2021-22 campaign. body check tags ::
