Incoming Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has insisted that he will challenge any player that does not pull their weight for the team.

Ten Hag was confirmed as the club's new manager on Thursday, but he will finish the season with Ajax before officially moving to Old Trafford this summer.

When asked whether he can deal with managing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Dutchman insisted that he will be firm with all of the players regardless of their status.

"I think I can, but I will stay myself in that. I won't change my vision. I will tell them their task and whoever does not meet those tasks will hear that from me, no matter who it is," Ten Hag told Trouw.

Ronaldo has been in impressive scoring form for Man United during the 2021-22 campaign, finding the back of the net on 21 occasions in 34 appearances during his second spell at the club.

The Portugal international has a contract at Old Trafford until next June, with the option of a further year, but there remains uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

Man United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick recently said that 10 new players could move to the club this summer as part of a rebuild. body check tags ::
