Manchester United reportedly scrapped a training programme intended for new arrival Bruno Fernandes upon the midfielder's impressive physical test results.

The 25-year-old joined United from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in January and has hit the ground running in the Premier League with two goals and two assists in four appearances.

According to Metro, the Red Devils' conditioning team drew up a programme for Fernandes, but quickly ditched the idea after the Portugal international ranked among the top three players in a series of tests.

The report also claims that the Portuguese playmaker would often stay after training with fellow midfielder Fred in order to practice free kicks, and staff are said to be impressed by his technical skills.

Fernandes rifled in United's equaliser as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, leaving them fifth in the table.
