Returning Barcelona defender Dani Alves has branded Ousmane Dembele "an exceptional player" amid the ongoing speculation surrounding the Frenchman's future.

Dembele has struggled with a number of injury problems during his time at Camp Nou and has only featured once for the Catalan giants this term due to fitness issues.

The 24-year-old's contract at Camp Nou is due to expire next June, and a number of clubs, including Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea, are said to be keeping a close eye on developments.

Alves, who was presented as a Barcelona player at Camp Nou on Wednesday, has called for the World Cup winner to commit his future to the club, insisting that "he can do many great things" with Blaugrana.

"Dembele is an exceptional player who needs to understand that he is Barca and to believe that he is a great player, he can do many great things here," Alves said during his official presentation.

Dembele has scored 30 goals and registered 21 assists in 119 appearances for his current club since making the move from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017.
