Michael Carrick says that Cristiano Ronaldo will "continue to score goals" at Manchester United under Ralf Rangnick.

Michael Carrick is confident that Cristiano Ronaldo will "continue to score goals" at Manchester United under the management of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

There have been suggestions that Ronaldo will not be a certain starter under Rangnick, with the German seemingly preferring forwards capable of pressing from the front.

However, Carrick has said that it is "a myth" that the Portugal international cannot press opponents, with the caretaker head coach backing Ronaldo to thrive under the team's new interim boss.

"Maybe it is a myth. He's played in enough teams over the years and been successful to [be able to] play in a variety of ways. He has kept scoring goals for every team he has played for and I am sure he will continue to score goals, no doubt about that," Carrick told reporters.

"Players adapt anyway. You've got to have skills for different styles. Ralf has obviously got a terrific pedigree over a long period of time and had success with that. I am sure the players are looking forward to the days and weeks ahead."

Carrick dropped Ronaldo to the bench for last weekend's Premier League clash with Chelsea, and the Red Devils managed to secure a point in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. body check tags ::
