Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has returned to training following a lengthy spell out through injury.

Eriksen has not featured since picking up a serious ankle injury against Reading in the FA Cup in January.

After over two months out though, manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that the Danish midfielder is back training with the first team.

In his pre-match press conference before Man United's clash with Brentford on Wednesday, Ten Hag said: "He's returning to team training today, so we have to see how quickly he can make progress."

Eriksen will not be fit for the Brentford game, but upcoming matches against Everton and Sevilla over the next week could see his return to the side.

Having gone three games without scoring a goal in the league, Ten Hag touched on the importance of Eriksen and the suspended Casemiro.

"Games will always be decided in midfield. When you miss two quality players, it's clear. But you have a squad, if you don't have them you still have to win," the Man United manager added.

Casemiro still has another two games left to serve on his four-match ban after a red card against Southampton, but he will be available for their Europa League tie with Sevilla next midweek. body check tags ::
