Cristiano Ronaldo will be back in the Manchester United squad on Saturday, as the Red Devils welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in the Premier League for a key top-four battle.

The Portugal international was absent against Manchester City in the Manchester derby last weekend due to a hip flexor problem and was unable to train with his teammates earlier this week.

However, interim head coach Ralf Rangnick revealed during Friday's pre-match press conference that Ronaldo is in line to return to the squad against Antonio Conte's side.

The 37-year-old has scored 15 times in 30 appearances for the 20-time English champions this season, but he has only struck once in the Premier League since the end of December.

There remains a host of speculation surrounding the Portuguese's future, but he is expected to be back in the first XI against Tottenham in Saturday's late start.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ronaldo has performed against Spurs in the past.

Ronaldo has faced Tottenham on 19 occasions during his professional career, with 12 of those matches coming in the Premier League, including the reverse league game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this season, where he put in an excellent performance.

The attacker has a record of 13 wins, five draws and one defeat against Spurs in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists in the process.

All four of Ronaldo's previous Champions League appearances against Tottenham came during his time at Real Madrid, and he netted in all four fixtures, two of which came in the quarter-finals of the 2010-11 competition, while the other two were in the group stage of the 2017-18 tournament.

The Portuguese has also tackled Spurs on three occasions in cup competitions - twice in the FA Cup, scoring twice against the capital side in the fourth round of the 2007-08 competition, before helping Man United run out 2-1 winners at the same stage of the 2008-09 tournament.

Ronaldo also played the full 120 minutes of Man United's penalty win over Tottenham in the final of the 2008-09 League Cup, netting in the shootout after a goalless draw.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster has a record of five goals and six assists in 12 Premier League matches against Spurs, boasting a record of eight wins and four draws.

Ronaldo scored his first goal against the capital side in a 3-0 Man United win during the 2003-04 campaign, while he netted a brace against them in his final season at Old Trafford before a move to Real Madrid, with the 20-time English champions running out 5-2 winners on home soil.

The Portugal international was also in excellent form against Tottenham in the reverse Premier League game earlier this season, scoring once and providing an assist in a 3-0 success for the Red Devils.

The fact that Ronaldo has never lost a Premier League match against Spurs should leave the attacker with a positive feeling heading into this match, although it remains to be seen whether Rangnick decides to start him ahead of next week's Champions League last-16 second leg with Atletico Madrid. body check tags ::
