Manchester City are reportedly preparing to hand John Stones a new five-year contract at the club.

The 26-year-old's career at the Etihad Stadium appeared in doubt last summer, but he has been in impressive form for the Citizens this term, scoring five times in 31 appearances in all competitions.

Stones's existing deal in Manchester is due to expire in June 2022, and Pep Guardiola's side are believed to have been in discussions with the England international over an extension over the last few months.

According to The Sun, the two parties are now in 'advanced talks' over a five-year contract, which will be worth in the region of £150,000 a week to the former Barnsley youngster.

The report claims that the centre-back is also expected to be handed a number of bonuses based on appearances, clean sheets and any potential trophies at the club.

Stones has scored 10 times in 164 appearances for Man City since arriving from Everton in August 2016.
