The father of Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has taken to social media to deny reports that he held talks over a move to Paris Saint-Germain for his son.

With the six-time Ballon d'Or winner running down the final few months of his Blaugrana deal, PSG are been one of the clubs expected to have the financial muscle to pull off a move for Messi.

Reports in Spain claimed that Messi's father Jorge met with a Qatari consulate to discuss a potential summer move to the French capital, but the attacker's father has since denied that such talks ever took place.

Jorge Messi shared a screenshot of El Chiringuito's tweet of the story on Instagram with the caption: "False. Another invention. I've been in Argentina since September."

Messi is free to enter negotiations with other clubs from January onwards, with Manchester City also regarded as one of the favourites to land the 33-year-old if he does indeed leave.

The Argentine scored the winner for Barcelona in a 1-0 win over Levante at the weekend, but he is still expected to head for the exit door after failing to force a move away over the summer. body check tags ::
