Lionel Messi has affirmed that a move to Paris Saint-Germain is a "possibility" after his emotional goodbye from Barcelona.

Despite pushing for a move away last year, Messi came to an agreement with Joan Laporta over a new Barcelona deal after his old contract expired at the end of the 2020-21 season.

However, financial obstacles prevented the six-time Ballon d'Or winner from extending his stay at Camp Nou, and PSG are thought to be at the head of the queue for his services.

Speaking at a farewell press conference in Barcelona on Sunday morning, Messi said: "It [PSG] is a possibility, but I have not agreed anything with anyone. I got different clubs interested. And nothing is definitive but clearly we are talking to them."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has already ruled his side out of the running to sign Messi this summer, and PSG are thought to be preparing a two-year contract for the 34-year-old.

Messi leaves Barcelona after winning 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns during a 16-year spell in the first team, where he amassed 672 goals and 305 assists from 778 appearances. body check tags ::
