Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne reveals that he is in talks with the Citizens over extending his contract at the Etihad, which is due to run out in 2023.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that talks are underway regarding a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgium international has become integral to Pep Guardiola's system over the past few years at City, with De Bruyne's contract in Manchester set to run until 2023.

De Bruyne - along with several of City's big names - was linked with a move away while the Premier League giants were waiting for their two-year ban from European competition to be overturned earlier this year, but the 29-year-old has since affirmed that he is happy at the club and is looking to pen fresh terms.

Speaking to Belgian TV station VTM Nieuws, De Bruyne said: "I am happy in Manchester. I am at a good club. Good owners. Good club.

"We are a bit in talks - not advanced. At the moment I am doing the talks myself. I would like to stay with the club, so it's easy. If I didn't want to stay, it would take someone to mediate. But when you want to stay, it's not so difficult."

De Bruyne played the full 90 minutes as Belgium overcame England 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday night - a result which dashed the Three Lions' hopes of making the finals.
