Pep Guardiola has revealed that he will not be extending his Manchester City contract this season but has expressed his desire to negotiate a new deal in the summer of 2023.

The 51-year-old has been with the Premier League leaders since 2016, but his current deal is due to expire at the end of next season.

Guardiola has insisted that he is happy to stay at the Etihad Stadium, but he has no intentions of putting pen to paper on a new deal any time soon.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Spaniard said: "If I extend my contract, it will be at the end of next season. Before it's not going to happen.

"I'm here since many years and I have to see how the team and ourselves are together, me and the team.

"I'd like to stay 10 more years, but we have to take time. There is no time this season or during the next season."

Guardiola's Premier League managerial rival Jurgen Klopp signed a contract extension with Liverpool last month, but the former remains focused on finishing the current campaign and challenging for titles next season before contemplating his future.

Across his six-year spell at the Etihad, Guardiola has won 10 trophies as Man City manager, and a fourth Premier League title could be on the way this term as the Citizens currently sitting three points clear at the top of the table with just two games remaining.
