How Manchester City could line up against Leeds United

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Manchester City will assess injured playmaker Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter with Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium.

The 31-year-old, who has missed the last two matches with an unspecified problem, watched on from the stands as City beat West Ham United 3-0 on Wednesday night, but Pep Guardiola has since confirmed that the Belgian has "trained good" and could be in contention to feature on Saturday.

Guardiola was boosted by the return of Nathan Ake against the Hammers, with the Dutch defender scoring on his first start since recovering from a hamstring injury. Ake is likely to continue on the left side of the back four, while Manuel Akanji will be hoping for a recall at the expense of either Kyle Walker, John Stones or Ruben Dias.

Stefan Ortega was handed a surprise start in goal in midweek, making his Premier League debut, and after keeping a clean sheet, the German will be hoping to keep his place between the sticks at the expense of first-choice shot-stopper Ederson, although the Brazilian is seemingly likely to return.

Captain Ilkay Gundogan was rested against West Ham and will be pushing to start in centre-midfield alongside Rodri, which could see Bernardo Silva potentially make way.

Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden were among the scorers in a 7-0 thrashing of Leeds at the Etihad last season and all three attackers will battle for a place on the flanks, with the latter hoping to start his first game since the middle of March.

Julian Alvarez is expected to continue in a central role if De Bruyne is not fit to feature, supporting record-breaking goal machine Erling Braut Haaland, who scored two of his 35 Premier League goals in a 3-1 win over Leeds at Elland Road earlier this season.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake; Rodri, Gundogan; Foden, Alvarez, Grealish; Haaland
