West Ham United remain interested in signing Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips despite his recent injury, according to a report.

Phillips, 24, sustained a cheekbone fracture in the 2-1 Champions League victory against AC Milan last week and Jurgen Klopp has suggested that he could be sidelined for 'several weeks'.

However, the Evening Standard claims that the Hammers still consider Phillips as one of their primary targets and they would be prepared to match Liverpool's £10m valuation of the defender.

David Moyes revealed earlier this month that West Ham will look to prioritise the signing of a central defender in the winter window, following the injuries sustained to both Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

Ogbonna underwent surgery on an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury last month and has been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Zouma began his rehabilitation program for a hamstring problem last week and he could be sidelines for up to three months.

Phillips, who has featured for just 135 minutes in all competitions for Liverpool this season, is expected to leave Anfield in one of the upcoming transfer windows, with Klopp previously suggesting that he will be allowed to leave in January. body check tags ::
