Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah reportedly rejected a move to Real Madrid shortly after being injured by Sergio Ramos in the 2018 Champions League final.

Real Madrid tried to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool shortly after the 2018 Champions League final between the two clubs, according to one of his former Egypt coaches.

Salah enjoyed a record-breaking debut season for the Merseyside outfit in 2017-18, scoring 44 goals across all competitions including 11 in the Champions League to help fire the Reds to the final.

However, the Egypt international lasted just over half an hour in the final having been injured by Sergio Ramos, leaving the pitch in tears as Madrid went on to lift the trophy.

Former Egypt coach Hany Ramzy claims that Los Blancos then attempted to sign Salah that summer, but that the winger rejected the move in favour of staying at Anfield.

"I was talking to Salah and he told me that Real Madrid sent him an offer," Ramzy told OnTimes Sport.

"The offer was really good, but Salah discussed it with me and Mr. Cuper, and he decided to stay with Liverpool because he was comfortable there."

Salah went on to help Liverpool to the Champions League title one year later, scoring in the final against Tottenham Hotspur.
