Wolfsburg have reportedly placed a €30m (£26m) valuation on centre-back Micky van de Ven amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

After enduring a challenging injury-hit debut campaign with Wolfsburg in 2021-22, featuring just five times, Van de Ven enjoyed a breakthrough year with the German club last season and established himself as a first-team regular.

Indeed, the 22-year-old started 36 games across all competitions, predominantly operating at centre-back while also filling in at left-back.

Van de Ven still has four years remaining on his Wolfsburg contract, but speculation over the Dutchman's future has surfaced in recent weeks amid interest from Premier League duo Liverpool and Spurs.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be considering making adjustments to his backline ahead of the 2023-24 season, with Van de Ven identified as a potential summer target due to uncertainty over the long-term futures of Joel Matip – who has just a year left on his contract – and Nat Phillips.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are in the market for a new centre-back as Clement Lenglet has returned to Barcelona following his season-long loan spell, while Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon could all depart the North London club this summer.

Wolfsburg are believed to be keen to keep hold of Van de Ven this summer, but the Evening Standard reports that they could be tempted to cash in on the defender if they receive an offer of €30m (£26m).

Van de Ven recently suffered elimination from the European Under-21s Championship with the Netherlands, and while away on international duty, the defender acknowledged that he is aware of the rumours about his club future.

Speaking to Voetbal International as quoted by the Evening Standard, Van de Ven said: "I have been forwarded it. I have seen it.

"[Interest] goes through my agent now. If serious things come up, he will call me."

Van de Ven admitted in May that the prospect of representing a Premier League club is alluring and he refused to rule out a summer departure from Wolfsburg.

"I'm very good [happy] at Wolfsburg, so I don't mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year, but if I get a chance to leave I would like to," the defender told reporters.

"I read everything... I have good contact with my agent, so I know what's going on. I'll see where it will lead.

"Hopefully, [moving to a bigger club] would be nice. The Premier League, maybe, yes. Who knows?"

While Liverpool's sole summer addition, at the time of writing, has been midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, Spurs have signed both Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski on permanent deals, and have also completed the signing of Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario for around £17.2m.
