Head coach Patrick Vieira says that his Crystal Palace side will need to show 'bravery' in order to defeat Liverpool on Monday night.

Patrick Vieira has acknowledged that his Crystal Palace will need to replicate their performance from last season's win over Manchester City to defeat Liverpool on Monday night.

The Eagles posted a 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium in October, Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher scoring at either ends of the game to earn a famous win.

On that occasion, Palace were helped by the first-half dismissal of Aymeric Laporte, but Vieira alluded to the occasion as he spoke about the upcoming trip to Anfield.

While last season's Premier League runners-up are clear favourites to prevail on Merseyside, the Frenchman feels that his team are capable of causing a surprise.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Vieira said: "The game against City we were well disciplined, well organised and we defended well as a team. We managed to frustrate them until the kind of moment when we could score that goal.

"Against those teams, it is hard to have possession. We accept that, and we will have to work well as a team if we want to get something from the game.

"It's about our organisation, how we can be really disciplined, work well and close those kinds of spaces where they can hurt you. If we manage to do that well, it will be important for us to be brave and to take those chances to score goals.

"Going to Anfield and defending for 90 minutes will be tough. We have to play our game and to try to create chances and score goals."

However, history is not on Palace's side with Liverpool having recorded all three points in the last 10 Premier League fixtures between the two sides.

On the injury front, Vieira has revealed that Michael Olise could be fit enough to return to the squad after a foot injury.

James Tomkins and James McArthur remain absent with calf and groin issues respectively, with Palace potentially lining up with the same XI from the defeat to Arsenal. body check tags ::
