Liverpool have named an initial 33-man squad for their winter training camp in Dubai, where the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz will be present.

Jurgen Klopp's side will compete in the four-team Dubai Super Cup over the next couple of weeks, which will also see AC Milan, Lyon and Arsenal take part in the friendly tournament.

The Reds will face off against Lyon on December 11, and they then have five days to recover before taking on Italian champions AC Milan on December 16.

Klopp's ranks have been decimated by injuries this term, but the quartet of Jota, Diaz, Arthur and Naby Keita are all set to make the journey to the Middle East this month.

Portugal attacker Jota has been out of action since sustaining a serious calf injury against Manchester City on October 16, which ended his chances of playing in the World Cup.

However, the 26-year-old will be joining up with the rest of the squad in Dubai, although Liverpool have stressed that he will continue to work on his individual recovery program rather than push for a return to first-team action.

Meanwhile, fellow attacker Diaz has been nursing a knee injury since October's defeat to Arsenal, although he is on track to be available for Liverpool before the end of the year, as the Reds meet Manchester City in the EFL Cup fourth round on December 22 before their Premier League return against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Juventus loanee Arthur had only played 13 minutes of football for Liverpool's senior team before sustaining a serious thigh injury, and he underwent surgery back in October while still waiting for his Premier League debut.

Finally, Keita's only appearance this season for Liverpool came in their Community Shield win over Manchester City at the end of July, with the Guinea international struggling to overcome a thigh problem.

Keita was pictured in team training with the Reds earlier in the autumn and was running on the Kirkby pitches as he stepped up his recovery, and it remains to be seen if he will be fit for either of the Reds' Dubai Super Cup matches.

Senior players such as Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Thiago, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip will all make the journey, and Klopp will also take the opportunity to look at a selection of his young players.

Seventeen-year-old starlet Ben Doak is among those hoping to earn more first-team minutes in December, as are Melkamu Frauendorf, Jarell Quansah and Dominic Corness.

The players still representing their countries at the World Cup - Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Alisson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk - are set to rejoin the team at a later date.

Darwin Nunez's Uruguay were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage despite beating Ghana 2-0 in their final match on Friday, and the striker will link up with the squad next week.
