Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that Joe Gomez and Naby Keita will be able to return to the pitch next week.

The duo have been dealing with calf and thigh injuries respectively but were pictured back in team training with the Reds following Wednesday's win over Everton.

The trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers will come too soon for Gomez and Keita, but Klopp has hinted that the pair may be in contention to face AC Milan in midweek.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-game press conference, Klopp said: "[They were involved in] big parts. It was really nice to see. We didn't let them do the full session because medical told us not to do that, but they looked brilliant.

"They now use the next two or three days to do the stuff they have to while being part of team training – and then I think from Sunday on, if nothing happens between now and then, they should be in contention again."

While Gomez and Keita are closing in on returns, Liverpool continue to cope without long-term injury victims Harvey Elliott, Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones. body check tags ::
