Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he has "mixed emotions" following Saturday's 4-1 win over Brentford due to the injuries suffered by Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota.

Klopp also confirmed that Darwin Nunez "felt something" during the Premier League clash, which led to him being substituted at the half-time interval.

Jones was the first to depart, leaving the field in the 34th minute following a challenge by Mathias Jensen, but there is more concern over the problem suffered by Jota, who had to be stretched off the field in the latter stages of the first period when Christian Norgaard landed on his knee.

There was also a surprise when Nunez did not come out for the second period in Middlesex.

Liverpool's 4-1 success over Brentford moved them five points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, but Klopp admitted that the injury issues for Jones and Jota 'do not look great".

"It is mixed emotions, we lost players which we don't know how serious it is. It doesn't look great for either of them," Klopp told TNT Sports after the impressive win.

"But what the boys did after 15 minutes was exceptional against a team set up to annoy you. Eighteen times a set piece is flying into your box, you need bodies and luck in a moment and a goalie as well, who played an incredible game.

"We played a good game from a specific moment on. We controlled them as much as you can and we are happy about that.

"Bad luck with injuries? Definitely. I think there was a knock on Curtis [Jones]. It was a challenge with Diogo [Jota] as well and Darwin [Nunez] we are not sure if he has something or not, he felt something.

"We will see. It was never easy for us, at the moment it is fine. We have 57 points and in a few days play again."

Klopp later confirmed in his post-match press conference that Jones was on crutches following his injury.

"Yes, but it's normal. I didn't speak to him [yet], I don't have time because I more or less get carried around here in the stadium to have interviews and stuff like this," he said.

"I don't know how it developed during the second half because I saw him at half-time when it was alright-ish, but I don't know what happened since then."

Liverpool's busy schedule continues on Wednesday with a trip to Luton Town in the Premier League before taking on Chelsea in the EFL Cup final next weekend. body check tags ::
