Liam Cooper signs new Leeds United deal

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper signs a fresh deal keeping him at Elland Road until 2021.

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

The 25-year-old has been at Elland Road for three years and had a tumultuous time last season, with injury and a six-game ban for stamping limiting him to just 11 Championship appearances.

New Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen is a big fan of Cooper, however, and handed him the captain's armband as the side claimed a 3-2 victory at Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

Cooper began his career at Hull City and had loan spells at Carlisle United, Huddersfield Town and Chesterfield, going on to seal a permanent switch to the latter before joining Leeds a year later.
