How Leeds United could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Leeds United could line up for Tuesday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has a fairly clean bill of health coming into Tuesday's visit to Southampton, as they look to record a third consecutive Premier League win.

Winger Helder Costa and midfielder Adam Forshaw should be the only senior absentees for the West Yorkshire outfit, with Forshaw yet to make an appearance in the English top flight this season.

The squad was boosted by the return of club captain Liam Cooper last time out, although he was kept out of the starting XI by the back three of Pascal Struijk, Diego Llorente and Luke Ayling.

Llorente has shown his class after a tough first half of the season with several injury struggles, while both Ayling and Struijk have seamlessly made the step up to the Premier League, with the latter especially being a surprise package with some solid defensive performances for the Whites this season.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been another crucial cog in the Leeds machine this season, and he should feature in the middle alongside Polish international Mateusz Klich.

Rodrigo has given his manager a selection headache coming into Tuesday's game, after he came off the bench to net a brace in the 4-0 win over Burnley last time out, following another goal off the bench in the previous win over Tottenham Hotspur.

It is difficult to see where the Spanish international will slot into the starting side though, as frontman Patrick Bamford has recorded 15 goals and eight assists in the Premier League this season, while exciting wingers Raphinha and Jack Harrison have registered a combined 14 goals and 16 assists in the top flight.

For now, Bielsa could opt to stick with his usual front three and utilise Rodrigo as a useful asset off the bench, potentially adding plenty more attacking threat in the second half of the encounter.

Leeds United possible starting XI: Meslier; Struijk, Llorente, Ayling; Alioski, Phillips, Klich, Dallas; Raphinha, Bamford, Harrison
