Everton to face Hajduk Split in Europa League

Everton will face Croatian side Hajduk Split in the Europa League playoff round.

Everton have been drawn to play Croatian side Hajduk Split in the Europa League playoff round.

On Thursday night, the Toffees completed a 2-0 aggregate victory over Slovakian outfit MFK Ruzomberok to move closer to a return to the group stages of this competition for the first time in three years.

Despite being seeded for the draw, Ronald Koeman was aware that a difficult test could await his team, and the Merseyside outfit have been given one in the form of Hajduk Split.

Hajduk - who finished in third place in the league last season - have already progressed past Levski Sofia and Brondby to reach this stage of the tournament, with just one goal being conceded in four matches.

The first leg will take place at Goodison Park on Thursday, August 17, with Everton making the long trip to Croatia a week later.
