Joe Hart: 'England game was difficult for crowd'

England goalkeeper Joe Hart praises the fans at Wembley for putting up with a "difficult" game as the Three Lions claimed a 1-0 win over Slovenia on Thursday night.

Joe Hart has praised the England fans for enduring a "difficult" game as the Three Lions claimed a 1-0 win over Slovenia on Thursday night.

Gareth Southgate's charges left it late to claim victory in their World Cup qualifier at Wembley, Harry Kane poking home in the 94th minute of a low-quality encounter to send the nation to Russia.

West Ham United loanee Hart, who kept a clean sheet, acknowledged that the crowd did not witness an enthralling game but expressed his happiness at the team meeting their objective of reaching the World Cup finals.

"The guys were brilliant today. We wore them down. It was difficult for the crowd but we appreciate them coming," the goalkeeper told ITV Sport.

"We're really happy. The team have always got my back and I have theirs. The team have qualified for a World Cup and that's a big deal."

England conclude their qualifying campaign away to Lithuania on Sunday.
