Head coach Thomas Tuchel says that there is a "high probability" that Cesar Azpilicueta remains at Chelsea, despite interest from Barcelona.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.

For a number of months, the Blues legend has been linked with a transfer to Barcelona, a result of his contract being due to expire at the end of the season.

However, the 32-year-old has recently activated a year-long extension due to making a set number of appearances this season.

Despite reports indicating that a move to Camp Nou could still materialise, Tuchel feels that there is a "high probability" of the Spaniard remaining in West London.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: "Yeah, I knew it was going to happen. I knew the amount of games where it was going to happen. It is a good thing. We were aware of it. It is good news for us.

"We have a contract and he is our captain. Very high probability that he will stay."

Barcelona are already said to have won the race to sign fellow Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, with Antonio Rudiger also allegedly on the radar. body check tags ::
