Head coach Thomas Tuchel suggests that he is happy to show "patience" as Chelsea attempt to resolve the futures of four out-of-contract players.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has suggested that he has few concerns with four of his senior players still having yet to agree a new contract ahead of the January transfer window.

Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all have just six-and-a-half months remaining on their existing terms at Stamford Bridge.

As it stands, each of the quartet can hold discussions with foreign clubs next month, but Tuchel has played down the significance of the change in restrictions at the turn of the year.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: "I think all of these players know very much how we appreciate them, which big role that they play in our plans, and in the presence of this team. They are very aware of it and won't throw it away.

"Of course, it's their right to do things, but it's also their right to stay with us and create the future. We are honoured with patience, honoured with confidence and honoured with a trust in the relationship with the players and staff, and the players and the club, and this is how it should be."

While Silva has been tipped to sign a new 12-month deal, doubts remain over Rudiger, Christensen and Azpilicueta who will be in high demand. body check tags ::
