Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have completed the permanent signing of Dujon Sterling from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Ibrox, subject to international clearance, and will officially join the Gers on July 1, a day after his contract at Chelsea expires.

Sterling spent 15 years at Stamford Bridge but departs after making only two senior appearances for the Blues, with his last outing against Norwich City in the FA Cup in January 2018.

The versatile defender made over 100 EFL appearances across three loan spell at Coventry City, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool, before featuring 26 times on loan at Stoke City in the Championship last season.

Sterling becomes Michael Beale's second signing of the summer transfer window after midfielder Kieran Dowell, who will join the Gers on a free transfer when his deal at Norwich expires next month.

Speaking to Rangers' official website on his arrival at Ibrox: Sterling said: "I am really excited to come to such a big club, there's a lot of history and the supporters are so passionate, so I am thrilled.

"I wasn't expecting to make my mind up about my future this quickly, but the gaffer came in for me straight away and what he proposed to me was everything that I believe I need.

"We were on the same wavelength, he believes in me and I believe in what he is trying to do as well so it was a no-brainer for me to come."

Beale added: "I am delighted to welcome Dujon to Rangers, he is an exciting young player who, I'm sure, will be a great addition to our squad.

"He is someone I was aware of from my time at Chelsea, and I have always kept an eye on his career as it has progressed.

"He is a very powerful and strong defender, who has fantastic attacking qualities and I look forward to working with him at Rangers."

Sterling joins a Gers side who finished second in the Scottish Premiership in 2022-23, seven points behind champions and rivals Celtic.
