Michy Batshuayi: 'Eden Hazard advised me to stay at Chelsea'

Striker Michy Batshuayi reveals that teammate Eden Hazard advised him to remain at Chelsea during the summer.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has revealed that teammate Eden Hazard played a part in his decision to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, Batshuayi was forced to play second fiddle to Diego Costa as Chelsea won the Premier League title, and reports emerged during the summer that head coach Antonio Conte was keen on Fernando Llorente.

However, Batshuayi stayed in West London - with Llorente eventually signing for Tottenham Hotspur - and the Belgian frontman has reiterated his desire to take any opportunities in the starting lineup.

The 24-year-old is quoted by Dhnet.be as saying: "It was friendly advice. When he said that, he thought a third striker was going to come, but in the end, there's only two of us for one place. I want to succeed at this club and my relationship with Alvaro is very healthy.

"I don't want to leave during the next transfer window, because we're going to play a lot of games and I will certainly get an opportunity."

Batshuayi has scored five goals from three starts and four substitute appearances in all competitions this season.

Conte is expected to give Batshuayi more game time in the club's upcoming matches due to a hamstring problem for Alvaro Morata.
